Το εσωτερικό του πύργου φιλοξενεί μια ελικοειδή σκάλα, η οποία οδηγούσε σε πέντε τουλάχιστον ορόφους. Στην κορυφή του υπάρχει ένα άνοιγμα καλυμμένο από μια μεγάλη πέτρα, ενώ λίγο πάνω από το υπέρθυρο υπάρχει μια καταπακτή που οδηγεί στο επάνω επίπεδο.

    Το μικρό μέγεθος του πύργου επιτρέπει την άνοδο μόνο σε ένα άτομο τη φορά. Η σπειροειδής σκάλα, κατασκευασμένη από πέτρα που προεξέχει από τον εσωτερικό τοίχο, ξεκινά από το ισόγειο και καταλήγει στον τελευταίο όροφο. Ένας εσωτερικός τοίχος από κατεργασμένη πέτρα, που είναι σε μεγάλο βαθμό κατεστραμμένος σήμερα, βρίσκεται μέσα στον πύργο. Αξιοσημείωτο είναι ότι δεν υπάρχει στέγη, και το πάνω μέρος του πύργου έχει κατεδαφιστεί, με την αρχική του μορφή να υπολογίζεται πως ήταν 2-3 μέτρα ψηλότερη.

    Τοποθεσία

    Ο Πύργος Αγίου Πέτρου είναι χτισμένος σε μια προνομιακή θέση, που δεσπόζει στον κάμπο του Γαυρίου και βλέπει προς τη θάλασσα. Αυτή η τοποθεσία έδινε τη δυνατότητα να ελέγχονται τα πλοία που πλησίαζαν το νησί. Επιπλέον, γύρω από το μνημείο υπάρχουν εγκαταστάσεις εξόρυξης χαλκού, που λειτουργούσαν μέχρι τις αρχές του περασμένου αιώνα.     The Tower of Agios Petros in Andros, dating back to the Hellenistic period (4th-3rd century BC), is one of the best-preserved structures in all of the Cyclades. This impressive architectural creation stands as a testament to the region’s cultural and historical heritage.

    The Tower of Agios Petros is cylindrical, with a height of approximately 20 meters and a base diameter of 9.40 meters. Constructed entirely from local schist, it maintains a commanding presence in the landscape of Andros. Inside the tower, a helical staircase leads up to at least five floors. At the top, there is an opening covered by a large stone, and just above the lintel, there is a hatch leading to the upper level.

    The small size of the tower allows only one person to ascend at a time. The spiral staircase, made of stone protruding from the interior wall, starts from the ground floor and reaches the top floor. An inner wall made of worked stone, largely destroyed today, is also present inside the tower. Notably, there is no roof, and the upper part of the tower has been demolished, with its original height estimated to have been 2-3 meters higher.

    Location

    The Tower of Agios Petros is built in a particularly privileged position, overlooking the Gavrio plain and facing the sea, allowing for the control of incoming ships. Additionally, around the monument, there are copper mining facilities that operated until the early 20th century. There are also indications that similar activities took place in antiquity, suggesting that the monument’s role was to oversee both land and sea.

Για όσους διασχίζουν τον πεζόδρομο της Χώρας, τους περιμένει μια γραφική διαδρομή, καθώς 130 σκαλοπάτια οδηγούν από τη Θεοσκέπαστη στην πλατεία Καΐρη και τέλος στην απαλή άμμο κάτω. Εναλλακτικά, οι ταξιδιώτες μπορούν να ξεκινήσουν μια χαλαρή βόλτα από την εθνική οδό δίπλα στο Λύκειο ή να ακολουθήσουν τον στενό τσιμεντόδρομο από τα Λιβάδια, που ελίσσεται δίπλα από πλατάνια και λεύκες.

The monastery is also called Agios Panteleimon, as its castle is preserved within it. The monastery therefore celebrates twice a year, on July 27, as well as, of course, on August 15.

    Access is from the village of Vouni, an asphalt road which is the easiest. Access is also possible from the village of Falika, from a dirt road. If you are a lover of hiking there are also trails from Fallika, Livadia, and Vrahnou.

    The exact time the Monastery of Panachrantou was built in Andros is a mystery. There are two manuscripts and of course local tradition, which place its creation in 960 AD. According to legend, two monks noticed a bright, shining light on the mountain opposite. Following the light so that they could explore where it was coming from, they reached a cave. There, they found the icon of the Virgin Mary which they took with them. The next morning, however, the image of the Virgin Mary had disappeared, to the surprise of all the monks. That same evening, however, this shining light appeared again on the mountain opposite.

    The more times the monks took the icon with them, the more times the icon returned to its original spot. Despite prayers and prayers, the monks were unable to keep the icon. Eventually, they decided to settle permanently on the opposite mountain and build a small ascetic monastery. This was a major attraction for monks from all over the country who formed the first Brotherhood.

    The first buildings of the Monastery of Panachrantos in Andros were built when Nikiforos Phokas, fulfilling his vow, left a lot of money after a successful campaign.

Το σεμινάριο είχε περισσότερους από 110 συμμετέχοντες και συνολικά 50 δωμάτια.

    Μονή Αγίας Μαρίνας στην Άνδρο

    Υπάρχει ο μύθος ότι η Μονή ιδρύθηκε το 1325 μ.Χ. από έναν μοναχό που αντίκρυσε την Αγία Μαρίνα. Τότε, με την οικονομική βοήθεια του αυτοκράτορα Εμμανουήλ Β΄ Κομνηνού ίδρυσε την Ιερά Μονή Αγίας Μαρίνας στην Άνδρο, προς τιμήν της θαυματουργής Αγίας.

    Μονή Αγίας Μαρίνας στην Άνδρο – Η ιστορική αναδρομή 

    Η Μονή Αγίας Μαρίνας στην Άνδρο έχει αντιμετωπίσει πολλές δυσκολίες στο πέρασμα των αιώνων. Τον 16ο αιώνα δέχτηκε τρεις επιδρομές από πειρατές και κάηκε ολοσχερώς με αποτέλεσμα να παρακμάσει. Μέχρι το 1743 είχαν απομείνει μόλις 5 μοναχοί στο μοναστήρι. Τότε, ο Ιερώνυμος Σωφρόνιος μετά από οράματα που είχε αποφάσισε να εκποιήσει όλη την περιουσία και να μεταβεί στο μοναστήρι, το οποίο μετέτρεψε σε γυναικείo το 1746.

    Το 1883, μετά από περισσότερο από έναν αιώνα η Μονή Αγίας Μαρίνας μετατρέπεται σε στάβλο με την έκδοση διατάγματος των Βαυαρών αντιβασιλέων. Η εικόνα της Αγίας βγήκε σε αναγκαστική δημοπρασία και σώθηκε από την οικογένεια Εμπειρίκου.

    Η νεώτερη ιστορία της Μονής

    Ο Μητροπολίτης Δωρόθεος, βλέποντας τα ερείπια τη Μονής ζήτησε από τον διάκονο του, τον μοναχό Κυπριανό να την αναστηλώσει. Ο Κυπριανός δεν δέχτηκε την πρόταση του Μητροπολίτη και τότε η Αγία Μαρίνα εμφανίστηκε με την μορφή οράματος μπροστά του. Αυτό ήταν αρκετό ώστε ο διάκονος να πειστεί και να αρχίσει η αναστήλωση της Μονής.

    Στην συνέχεια, το 1976, ο Κυπριανός μετά από πολλές προσπάθειες και αγώνες κατάφερε να γυρίσει την εικόνα της Αγίας Μαρίνας πίσω στο μοναστήρι. Από τότε χιλιάδες θαύματα της Αγίας Μαρίνας έχουν καταγραφεί. Πιστοί από όλα τα μέρη της Ελλάδας και κυρίως από την Κύπρο επισκέπτονται κάθε χρόνο της Μονή, λόγω θαύματος που έγινε πριν χρόνια σε ένα παιδί.

    There is a legend that the monastery was founded in 1325 AD. At that time, with the financial help of Emperor Emmanuel II Komnenos, he founded the Holy Monastery of Agia Marina in Andros, in honor of the miraculous Saint.

    The Monastery of Agia Marina in Andros has faced many difficulties over the centuries. In the 16th century, it was raided three times by pirates and was burnt to the ground, resulting in its decline. By 1743 only 5 monks were left in the monastery. Then, after having visions, Hieronymus Sophronius decided to sell all the property and move to the monastery, which he converted into a nunnery in 1746.

    In 1883, after more than a century, the Monastery of St. Marina was converted into a stable. The icon of Agia was put up for forced auction and saved by the Empeirikos family.

    The later history of the monastery

    Metropolitan Dorotheos, seeing the ruins of the monastery, asked his deacon, the monk Kyprianos, to restore it. Kyprianos did not accept the Metropolitan’s proposal and then Agia Marina appeared in the form of a vision before him. This was enough to convince the deacon and begin the restoration of the monastery.

    Then, in 1976, after many efforts and struggles, Kyprianos managed to return the icon of Agia Marina to the monastery. Since then, thousands of miracles of Agia Marina have been recorded. Believers from all parts of Greece especially from Cyprus visit the monastery every year because of a miracle that happened to a child years ago.

    Κάστρο της Φανερωμένης στην Άνδρο

    Το Κάστρο της Φανερωμένης στην Άνδρο είναι η μεγαλύτερη μεσαιωνική πόλη του νησιού, αλλά παρουσιάζει επίσης ίχνη ρωμαϊκής οχύρωσης. Το κάστρο ονομάζεται επίσης Πάνω Κάστρο ή Κάστρο της Γριάς από τους κατοίκους του νησιού.

    Το Κάστρο της Φανερωμένης – Οι θρύλοι και ο μύθος

    Όσον αφορά τον θρύλο πίσω από την κατασκευή του κάστρου, οι περισσότεροι μιλούν για μια ηλικιωμένη γυναίκα που πρόδωσε τους Έλληνες στους Τούρκους και στην προσπάθειά της να διαφύγει έπεσε στον γκρεμό. Η μνήμη της γριάς παρέμεινε αθάνατη στο πέρασμα των χρόνων και λίγο πιο κάτω στο δρόμο έδωσε το όνομα στη διάσημη παραλία “Της Γριάς το πήδημα”.

    Αν θέλετε να επισκεφθείτε το Κάστρο της Φανερωμένης στην Άνδρο θα πρέπει να ακολουθήσετε το μονοπάτι που ξεκινάει από το χωριό. Κατά τη διάρκεια της διαδρομής, θα έχετε την ευκαιρία να απολαύσετε από μακριά τα καταγάλανα νερά του Αιγαίου Πελάγους. Κοντά στην είσοδο του κάστρου (200 μέτρα αριστερά από την πύλη), υπάρχει μια σπηλιά με σταλακτίτες, η οποία αξίζει σίγουρα μια επίσκεψη.

    As far as the legend behind the construction of the castle is concerned, most people talk about an old woman who betrayed the Greeks to the Turks and in her attempt to escape fell over the cliff. The memory of the old woman has remained immortal over the years and a little further down the road gave the name to the famous beach “The Old Woman’s Jump”.

    If you want to visit the Castle of Faneromeni in Andros you have to follow the path that starts from the village. During the route, you will have the opportunity to enjoy from afar the deep blue waters of the Aegean Sea. Near the entrance of the castle (200 meters to the left of the gate), there is a cave with stalactites, which is definitely worth a visit.

    The Monastery of Zoodochos Pigi in Andros is the largest monastery on the island and is located between Gavrio and Batsi. The year of its foundation is a mystery, but it is believed that it started as a school in the Byzantine era and in 842 AD it was established as a Christian monastery. However, a date written on the back of a unique silver icon attests that the Monastery of Zoodochos Pigi in Andros was operating in the 14th century.

    The fall of the Monastery of Zoodochos Pigi in Andros began when the Franks left the beautiful island. However, in 1578 it was restored by monks and “lived” years of prosperity and glory. The monk Ioannikos, a member of the friendly society, continued the work of his predecessors and built new cells, spending his property and that of the monastery. By the end of the 17th century, the monastery had 100 monks and in the following years, the population was divided.

    Zoodochos Pigi Monastery in Andros – The myth

    The myth behind the foundation of the Monastery of Zoodochos Pigi is a true miracle. As the story goes, further north from the site of the monastery, workers were building another monastery. Every night, when they stopped their work, all their tools were disappearing, without anyone knowing who took them. As the days went by, quite close to where the monastery was being built, a thirsty, visually impaired old man was looking for water. Suddenly he saw a goat in front of him with a wet beard and knew that there must be a spring nearby. The old man then followed the goat’s footprints and located the spring.

    Out of nowhere, a woman appeared in front of him and he told her that he could not see her clearly because of his vision problem. Then, the woman urged him to wash his eyes with the water from the spring. Miraculously, his sight returned and the woman revealed to him that she was the Virgin Mary. She asked him to go to the workers who were building the monastery and tell them to build it to the location of the spring.

    In 1928 the monastery was converted into a women’s monastery and remains so to this day.

    Η Μονή Ζωοδόχου Πηγής στην Άνδρο είναι το μεγαλύτερο μοναστήρι του νησιού και βρίσκεται ανάμεσα στο Γαύριο και το Μπατσί. Το έτος ίδρυσής του αποτελεί μυστήριο, αλλά πιστεύεται ότι ξεκίνησε ως σχολείο κατά τη βυζαντινή εποχή και το 842 μ.Χ. ιδρύθηκε ως χριστιανικό μοναστήρι. Ωστόσο, μια ημερομηνία γραμμένη στο πίσω μέρος μιας μοναδικής ασημένιας εικόνας πιστοποιεί ότι η Μονή Ζωοδόχου Πηγής στην Άνδρο λειτουργούσε τον 14ο αιώνα.

    Η πτώση της Μονής της Ζωοδόχου Πηγής στην Άνδρο ξεκίνησε όταν οι Φράγκοι εγκατέλειψαν το όμορφο νησί. Ωστόσο, το 1578 αποκαταστάθηκε από μοναχούς και “έζησε” χρόνια ευημερίας και δόξας.     Μονή Ζωοδόχου Πηγής στην Άνδρο – Ο μύθος

    Ο μύθος πίσω από την ίδρυση της Μονής της Ζωοδόχου Πηγής είναι ένα πραγματικό θαύμα. Όπως λέει η ιστορία, βορειότερα από την τοποθεσία του μοναστηριού, εργάτες έχτιζαν ένα άλλο μοναστήρι. Κάθε βράδυ, όταν σταματούσαν τη δουλειά τους, όλα τα εργαλεία τους εξαφανίζονταν, χωρίς κανείς να ξέρει ποιος τα πήρε. Καθώς περνούσαν οι μέρες, αρκετά κοντά στο σημείο όπου χτιζόταν το μοναστήρι, ένας διψασμένος ηλικιωμένος με προβλήματα όρασης έψαχνε για νερό. Ξαφνικά είδε μπροστά του μια κατσίκα με βρεγμένη γενειάδα και κατάλαβε ότι πρέπει να υπάρχει κοντά μια πηγή. Ο γέρος ακολούθησε τα ίχνη της κατσίκας και εντόπισε την πηγή.

    Από το πουθενά, μια γυναίκα εμφανίστηκε μπροστά του και της είπε ότι δεν μπορούσε να τη δει καθαρά λόγω του προβλήματος όρασής του. Στη συνέχεια, η γυναίκα τον παρότρυνε να πλύνει τα μάτια του με το νερό της πηγής. Ως εκ θαύματος, η όρασή του επέστρεψε και η γυναίκα του αποκάλυψε ότι ήταν η Παρθένος Μαρία. Του ζήτησε να πάει στους εργάτες που έχτιζαν το μοναστήρι και να τους πει να το χτίσουν στη θέση της πηγής.

    Το 1928 το μοναστήρι μετατράπηκε σε γυναικείο μοναστήρι και παραμένει έτσι μέχρι σήμερα.

    Μετά τη μεγάλη επιτυχία του πρώτου Andros Trail Race, σε λίγες ημέρες περιμένουμε την έναρξη του 2ου Andros Trail Race 2017. Ο αθλητικός τουρισμός είναι μια εναλλακτική μορφή τουρισμού. Συνδέεται στενά με τη φύση και τις δραστηριότητες αναψυχής. Η επαφή με το φυσικό μας περιβάλλον πραγματοποιείται μέσω πολλών αθλητικών δραστηριοτήτων. Andros Trail Race – το ορεινό τρέξιμο έχει μη ανταγωνιστικό χαρακτήρα και βάση αναψυχής μέσω του αθλήματος.

    Την Κυριακή 1η Οκτωβρίου 2017, είναι η μέρα για τους λάτρεις της φύσης, των βουνών και της θάλασσας. Θα απολαύσουν δύο μοναδικούς αγώνες στα μονοπάτια της Άνδρου, 10 και 24 χιλιομέτρων. Ο αγώνας διοργανώνεται από το Andros Trail Race (Trekking Andros & Outdoor Activities) σε συνδιοργάνωση με τον Δήμο Άνδρου. Στόχος της εκδήλωσης είναι η προβολή του νησιού, οι πεζοπορικές διαδρομές, ο εναλλακτικός τουρισμός και η διάδοση του αθλητισμού.

    Andros Trail Race για παιδιά

    Ο φετινός αγώνας Andros Trail Race εμπλουτίστηκε με δύο παράλληλους αγώνες, 5 χιλιομέτρων και 1 χιλιομέτρου για παιδιά. Θα πραγματοποιηθούν το Σάββατο 30 Σεπτεμβρίου, μία ημέρα πριν από τις επίσημες και κύριες εκδηλώσεις. Η Κύρια Μεγάλη Διαδρομή 24 χιλιομέτρων και η Κύρια Μικρή Διαδρομή 10 χιλιομέτρων. Από τη χαρά του τρεξίματος, την επαφή με τη φύση και τον ευγενή ανταγωνισμό δεν θα μπορούσαμε να αποκλείσουμε τους μικρούς μας φίλους. Έτσι, ετοιμάσαμε επίσης μια διαδρομή για νέους φέτος. 1 χλμ. για τους… αθλητές που θέλουν να πάρουν την πρώτη τους γεύση από το ορεινό τρέξιμο. Με μικρούς λόφους και λίγες σκάλες. Όλα τα παιδιά από 6 έως 17 ετών μπορούν να έρθουν σε επαφή με το τρέξιμο!

    3 διαφορετικά υλικά, 3 διαφορετικοί καλλιτέχνες! Σύρμα, Ξύλο και Πυλός και τρεις καλλιτέχνες από την Άνδρο που κάνουν τα βραβεία για τα τρία 24km, 10km και 5km του Andros Trail Race: ο Χρήστος Ευσταθίου, ο Γιώργος Ελευθερίου και η Κατερίνα Κοντού. Γεννημένοι σε διάφορα μέρη της Άνδρου, ο καθένας αγαπούσε το δικό του υλικό για να δουλέψει με τα χέρια του. Εμπιστευτήκαμε το ταλέντο τους και τους αφήσαμε να δημιουργήσουν μοναδικά και χειροποίητα βραβεία για τους αθλητές που θα λάβουν μέρος στον δεύτερο αγώνα του 2017.

    Following the great success of the first Andros Trail Race – Mountain Run of Andros, in a few days we are waiting for the launch of the 2nd Andros Trail Race 2017. Athletic tourism is an alternative form of tourism. It is closely related to nature and leisure activities. Getting in touch with our natural environment takes place through many sports activities. Andros Trail Race – mountain running has a non-competitive character and recreation base through the sport.

    On Sunday 1st October 2017, is the day for lovers of nature, mountains, and sea. They will enjoy two unique races on the Andros trails, 10 and 24 km. The race is organized by the Andros Trail Race (Trekking Andros & Outdoor Activities) in a co-organization with the Municipality of Andros. The aim of the event is to promote the island, hiking routes, alternative tourism, and the spread of sports.

    Andros Trail Race for children

    This year’s Andros Trail Race was enriched with two parallel events, 5km and 1km for children. They will take place on Saturday, September 30, one day before the official and main events. The Main Long Route of 24 km and the Main Small Route of 10 km. From the joy of running, contact with nature, and noble competition we could not exclude our little friends. So, we also prepared a junior route this year. 1 km for those… athletes wanting to get their first taste of mountain running. With small hills and few stairs. All children from 6 to 17 years of age can get in touch with running!

Wire, Wood, and Clay and three artists from Andros who make the awards for the three 24km, 10km, and 5km of Andros Trail Race: Christos Efstathiou, Giorgos Eleftheriou, and Katerina Kontou. Born in different parts of Andros, everyone loved his own material to work with his hands. We have trusted their talent and left them to create unique and hand-made awards for athletes who will take part in the second race of 2017.

    Ήταν μεγάλη μας τιμή να φιλοξενήσουμε τον Toni Sfino, συμβάλλοντας σε μια εκδήλωση μοναδική για το νησί μας. Tonis Sfinos – Live στην Άνδρο Ο Tonis, ο οποίος δεν είναι ο Αντώνης αλλά ο Θανάσης (Θάνος) είναι μια πραγματικά ξεχωριστή προσωπικότητα αλλά αυθεντική αν και μεταμφιεσμένη. Tonis Sfinos? Τραγουδιστής, τουίτερ, μίμος, ανατρεπτικός, χαρισματικός, και μια ομάδα νεαρών μουσικών που παίζουν και τον συνοδεύουν σε όλα, έκαναν την Άνδρο να γελάσει! Άλλες τρεις ώρες στο Moomba Afterlight στο Νημποριό: ξεχάστε, χορέψτε, ξεσπάστε και συμμετέχετε σε ένα ζωντανό πάρτι που δεν θέλετε να τελειώσει.

    Ναι, υπάρχει και αυτή η διασκέδαση! Η βραδιά του “Χαβαλέ show”. Tonis Sfinos. Ένα είδος ανεμελιάς κάτω από το φεγγάρι του Αυγούστου, με μαγιό, γέλια, δροσερή, έξυπνη και εύκολα στοχευμένη σάτιρα, γνωστά τραγούδια με παραποιημένους στίχους, πειράγματα και απόλυτη συμμετοχή του κοινού. Σταμάτησαν και ταρακούνησαν τη νεολαία και την πήραν -για ένα βράδυ- από τις καφετέριες. Ζούσαν μέχρι το Νειμποριό, την παραλία της Χώρας, αργά το απόγευμα (περπατούσε στον πεζόδρομο της Χώρας πάνω σε ένα άλογο!).

It was a matter of a few moments to accept the sponsorship proposal for the stay of Tonis Sfinos made by Moomba Afterlight. Tonis, who is not Antonis but Thanasis (Thanos) is a truly distinctive personality but authentic though disguised. Tonis Sfinos? Singer, Twitter, mime, subversive, charismatic, and a group of young musicians who play and accompany him at all, made Andros laugh! Three more hours at Moomba Afterlight in Nimporio: forget, dance, break out, and participate in a live party that you do not want to end.

    Yes, there is also this fun! The night of the “Chavale show”. Tonis Sfinos. A kind of carelessness under the moon of August, with swimsuits, laughter, cool, intelligent, and easily targeted satire, well-known songs with falsified lyrics, teasing, and absolute public participation. They paused and shook the youth and took it up – for an evening – from the cafes. They lived up Niborio, the beach of Chora, late afternoon (he walked on the pedestrian of Chora on a horse!).

    The Museum of Contemporary Art of the Basil and Elise Goulandris Foundation prepares for summer 2017 a tribute to the prominent poet and painter Nikos Engonopoulos. One hundred and ten paintings and selected poems will highlight his poetic sensitivity and his inherent visual perspective. Elements that together created the impression in size and originality of his painting and literary work. Painter, stage designer, poet, and professor at EM Polytechnic University, is considered the main representatives of the 1930s. One of the main speakers and pioneers of the surrealist movement in Greece.

Εκατόν δέκα πίνακες και επιλεγμένα ποιήματα θα αναδείξουν την ποιητική του ευαισθησία και την έμφυτη οπτική του προοπτική. Στοιχεία που μαζί δημιούργησαν την εντύπωση του μεγέθους και της πρωτοτυπίας της ζωγραφικής και του λογοτεχνικού του έργου. Ζωγράφος, σκηνογράφος, ποιητής και καθηγητής στο Πολυτεχνείο ΕΜ, θεωρείται ο κυριότερος εκπρόσωπος της δεκαετίας του 1930. Ένας από τους κύριους ομιλητές και πρωτοπόρους του υπερρεαλιστικού κινήματος στην Ελλάδα.

    “Τα λόγια του ποιητή και η πράξη του ζωγράφου, στην ενιαία, αδιαχώριστη ενότητα, όπως μας είναι ευρύτερα γνωστό, η βάση της καλλιτεχνικής δημιουργίας του διακεκριμένου ζωγράφου και ποιητή”.
